Mary will talk about the process of research and writing! Kids can also participate in a sense-based writing activity to get the creative juices flowing.
About the Presenter
Mary Boone has hung out backstage with a boy band, DNA-tested salmon, and baked dozens of cricket cookies—all in the interest of research for her books and magazine articles. She’s written 70+ nonfiction books for young readers. Mary's books include Pedal Pusher: How One Woman’s Bicycle Adventure Helped Change the World, School of Fish, and Bugs for Breakfast: How Eating Insects Could Help Save the Planet and a middle-grade collection of stories related to our oceans, Unfathomable: 20 Wild (But True) Stories About the Ocean.
Discovery Club Series
Discovery Club is a weekly summer program for kids in grades K–5 and their families/caregivers. From art to science, kids will find many ways to have fun, meet new friends, and try new things. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
