First Friday Art Walk: Plein Air Art Reception
with Olympic Peninsula Art Association
Friday, August 07
6:00pm - 7:30pm
View plein air artwork, meet the artists, and enjoy live music.
Stop by the library during the August 7 First Friday Art Walk Sequim for a free public reception celebrating the Plein Air Art exhibition organized by the Olympic Peninsula Art Association. View work by local artists who create beyond the walls of the studio, responding directly to shifting light, changing weather, and the rhythms of the natural world.
The exhibition is on display from July 17 to October 24.
The French term en plein air—“in the open air”—captures both the practice and spirit of painting and drawing outdoors, often in response to a fleeting moment in time. Some artists complete their work entirely on location, while others begin by establishing broad shapes, values, and color relationships outdoors before refining the piece later in the studio.
The Art in the Library program is funded in part by the Friends of Sequim Library.
