Maren Halvorsen and Susan Fisch, members of the League of Women Voters (LWV), will provide aspiring candidates with essential tools and knowledge for successfully navigating the electoral process. Discover the impact of local governance and understand why your voice matters.

Get guidance on how to apply for local office, including the necessary paperwork. Learn where to access important forms and deadlines, as well as valuable resources for candidates. Find out effective strategies for connecting with voters through the Voter Pamphlet, community forums, and meet-and-greet events. Gain insights into key campaigning practices and the importance of transparency throughout the election.

Maren Halvorsen is currently serving on the Sequim School Board. After being appointed to that position in 2022, she ran for election and won in 2023. Maren has a background in education, with a Ph.D. in History and many years as a teacher and administrator at the University of Washington. She has been a member of the Clallam County League of Women Voters since 2019, and served in the Executive Council (2021-22). She is currently a member of the League's Voter Education Committee and the Future of Water Committee. She is also a board member of the Sequim Education Foundation.

Susan Fisch has been a resident of Sequim since December 2021. She holds both a Bachelor’s degree and a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver. She began her legal career with the Colorado State Public Defender before transitioning to the Federal Public Defender’s office. Her notable career also includes a tenure as a judge in Jefferson County, Colorado. Committed to community service, she currently volunteers as the Vice-Chair of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula and contributes to the Sequim High School Mock Trial Team and the Clallam County League of Women Voters. In 2024, she ran for the Clallam County Charter Review Commission and will serve from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
